Making New Year Goals
Happy New Year! Have you started on your goals? Did you make goals? I can't help to think of all the times I've made goals and found myself wondering how close I'll actually get to getting them accomplished. We can be hard on ourselves when we expect too many goals to be accomplished in a year. I once aread a story of a man who made only one goal per year and worked on it all year long...it was something he was trying to improve on in his life, like getting over a phobia or smoking. Anyway, if i go that route, then I will just try to lose the weight I put on at Christmas! Trying to bake treats at Christmas and not eating them AT ALL is like watching a doctor put a needle to your eye and not moving away, or even blinking or twitching.
So when it comes to making goals, remember the tried and true rule...make S.M.A.R.T. goals!
Let's see if I remember this from my college test...correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe it's
S-Specific (be exact on what the goal is and is not)
M-Measurable (there should be a way to measure your goal and progress)
A-Achievable (and I like to add "action" oriented)
R-Realistic (sometimes we get overzealous...let's TRY to be realistic)
T-Time Bound (put a date next to each goal to specify when you want to accomplish each goal)
So there it is! If we strive to make sure our our goal is in line with these, we are more likely to succeed!
Best to you in 2011 :)
♥Cio xoxo
