A Woman's Treasure Chest

My dear hubby surprised me with the most beautiful corner china hutch.....and he made it himself!!!...he placed 3 antique glass panels in the door frames...I had originally purchased the panels 4 years ago off eBay for a home we built and sold...needless to say, I am SO pleased! I'm not sure what color to paint it yet...

A china hutch is more than just another piece of furniture. It can hold pieces which are dear to a woman. It may be a Thanksgiving turkey platter, a family punch bowl, her first tea set, an heirloom, her favorite glasses, or a Christmas tablecloth, or even hobby dolls. It is a woman's treasure chest.

New BVLGARI boutique opens at North Park Dallas, TX. September 13, 2010

Last week, I was invited to a special event. Bulgari has opened a new location in our very own North Park! The Dallas Fashionistas joined in as Bulgari partnered with Cattle Baron’s Ball during a chic, invitation-only cocktail party. I caught up with Brynn from PR for details.Veronica Trenk, USA Managing Director for Bulgari, was on site while guests had the opportunity to shop the latest collections, including high-end jewelry pieces brought in especially for the event.

BVGARI, an vintage Italian jeweler originally known for combining Greek and Roman art into unique pieces of fine jewelry, is recognized today as a luxury goods brand, including lines of watches, fragrances, and accessories. The looks are new, yet vintage!

Guests enjoyed special gift bags and edible candy rings shaped
like Bulgari jewels. Proceeds from selected merchandise are being donated to Cattle Baron’s Ball, the world's largest single-night fundraiser for cancer research through the American Cancer Society, Dallas TX.

Interview with Project Runway’s Shirin Askari

Lovely, Admired, & Vintage-Inspired!

I recently had the opportunity to catch up
With Shirin Askari, (Sixth season Project
Runway cast), to get her take on vintage
and to find out what she is up to lately.

Rocio: Hello Shirin, nice to meet with you! I admire your work as a fashion designer.
I’ve noticed you have a touch of vintage-feel in some of your clothing.  Are you inspired by vintage fashion?
Shirin: Yes, I love going vintage shopping for inspiration.

Rocio: I love vintage too... Why do you love it?
Shirin:  I think I like vintage clothing because it has a unique elegance about it... also probably because I grew up loving and watching old movies.

Rocio: Old movies are a treat to watch. The fashion alone is worth a front row seat. Which decade or era of fashion do you like most?
Shirin: There are certain aspects about different era's I love but if I had to choose an era in its entirety it would be the 1940's.

Rocio: Nice choice!  So who is your favorite silver-screen actress?
Shirin: I grew up watching Fred Astaire movies so it would be easy to say Ginger Rogers. But I have a special place in my heart for Katharine Hepburn.

Rocio: Katharine is a classic icon. Why is she a favorite for you?
Shirin: Her wit, humor and strength are something I have always admired.

Rocio: I agree, she is a steel magnolia! I can see those traits in you and your work. Speaking of work...can I get a sneak-peek at what you are working on currently?
Shirin: Currently I'm working on my Spring/Summer 2011 collection while also doing custom wedding dresses.

Rocio: You do beautiful work, I can’t wait to see your whole collection…you amaze me Shirin! Thank you for your time and I wish you the best! I look forward to seeing more of your work soon.
